Default New Member from the Chicago Area Tires?

I'm posting a question that I'm sure has been asked countless times but since I'm a fledgling member I have no shame. My '03 Disco HSE is in need of new tires. No off roading just city and hi-way all year round...snow, ice, sleet, rain all the joys of Chicago's every changing weather. My mechanic is recommending Continentals but I wasn't thrilled with my last set of Continentals...terrible in the snow and noisy on the hi-way. I'm at 90K and plan to keep her for another 20 or more so I'm not opposed to spending a little money but not break the bank. Suggestions please.... Thanks.

We went through the same process and while I am not sure what your budget, we opted for Nokian Rotviias in the 265/60R18 size. They fit within the wheel wells and on the back door.

They are quite and have a better ride than the 255/55R18.

Borchera....thanks for the advice on the Nokian tires and the beefed up size. Does any one else have a suggestion for tire brand and model? Thanks again. jcinhp

I live in Chicago and have Cooper AT3's and love them. They are quiet, grip incredibly and are very reasonably priced. I bought mine from the Tread Depot, watch for shipping and vendor discounts.

My Discovery now has Continental Contact 4x4s 255/55/R18 as a commuter tire and have played out to be a very good all weather tire. Very pleased with the performance.
