A new fan on a 15 year old car is not a bad idea either. It reduced my coolant temps by about 10 degrees (after the 180 thermostat) at idle, at hwy speed the difference was barely noticeable. The biggest impact made the 180 thermostat, but that should not be a fix for a worn out fan assembly or aged radiator.

Look inside the thermostat, on the actual metal thermostat inside the plastic housing. Normally all metal thermostats are stamped with their temp rating. Did it come in a britpart box?
Every single Britpart Unit I bought was stamped 78C. That was a year ago & probably bought close to 30 of them to be honest. Not one failure or complaint. I then tried to buy one for myself & wouldn’t you know it I get a bubble wrapped package with a thermostat just tossed in it. Looked inside & it was stamped 82C, and I figured Britpart probably has another distributor for their 180F thermostats. Trusting the vendor I tossed it in my D2 & immediately I was running 200F then 206F then down the road at nearly 220F. I drained the coolant, and compared it to an el cheapo I bought off of Ebay many many years back & it was identical in every single way. So I trusted a vendor that DID NOT sell me what I thought I’d purchased! I emailed them & was told flat out oh it’s a 180F and I needed to bleed it better. I was in a pinch for time & bought a 180F motorad unit from auto zone for 33.00 & bingo it was running 184/188/193 with 206F as the absolute highest! During that time a lot of people went off my advice & tried to buy the britpart thermostat but ended up with generic knock off’s which are not 180F thermostats.
I had a similar issue years ago when I had H3’s. They listed it as a 180F but actually they were all 195F units as they discontinued the cooler stats for emission reasons.
