New Tire Day
I made the sacrifice of a couple rifles I had sitting collecting dust in my gun safe and bought my new tries. Got tired of struggling on trails that others had no problems because of my lame A/Ts. Went with the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac in 245/75R16. So far I'm really impressed but tomorrow on the trail will be the real test. I haven't noticed any more road noise than my old tires and the ride quality is the same. A side benefit of the taller tire is that my speedometer is now closer to being correct.
The pictures on Goodyear's website don't do these tires justice. They are more aggressive than they look and the amount of siping is crazy. They even have siping between the tread blocks.

Got the factory alloy wheel at the local junk yard for $75.

They look like they are some good tires. Is the siping mainly for driving on road and dealing with snow and rain? I have read somewhere that each groove will make additional contact but I wasn't sure if it was for on or off the road.
The set of 5 cost me $1000 mounted and balanced. So far I'm really happy with them. Amazingly quiet on the road for such an aggressive tread pattern. Tomorrow on the trail will be the real test.
I'm really happy I decided to get the fifth alloy wheel for the spare. Looks a ton better than the steel on the back door.

Let us know how they wear, I've not been too impressed with Wranglers in the past. They tend to cup on these trucks, but that may not be an issue on the 16" rim. I know my truck came with Wranglers on it and they were shyte, but I am on the 18" wheels and the OEM size was a little too low-profile for the application.
They do look good, though I'd have tucked the white lettering to the inside...
Cheers!

AK aggressive looking tires!! Really interested to see how they hold up on the trails and road quality. I'm in the hunt for a perfect road/trail tire and like to hear personal reviews. Keep us up to date.
