Default New tires for 2003 Discovery SE

hi all-----been looking at tires for about a year and finally ready to pull the trigger.
I currently have 255/55/r18 Goodyear Eagle LS (not a bad road tire but hardly off-road ready) and they are shot. After looking at the forum posts here I am sold on the General Grabber AT/2. Sounds like a good all-around tire, esp. with deep snow here in NE Ohio. What do you all think? Also, with the 2003 Disco SE, is the 255/55/r18 the best size option if i want to keep my current rims? (I've seen some bloggers here use 255/60/r18...why?)Most of my driving is road, some highway, with limited off-roading (but remember the snow issue here).
Thanks as always...............

Those Grabber's are supposed to be a good all around tire.
The Hankook Dynapro RF-10 is too.
I prefer the Cooper Discoverer S/T but I dont think they come in a 18" tire.

The ONLY Cooper Discoverer's I would recommend is the S/T, their H/T is a highway tread and it sucks for everything except highway use.

Default tire size and rim size

If my factory rims for my current tires are 255/55/r18, does it matter about (a) matching the same size tire, and (b) are other sizes (such as a 255/60/r18) a better option? (see previous post thread please)

As a general rule of thumb you can "plus size" by one.
So yes, a 255/60 should be ok.

ended up getting a set of Pirelli Scorpion ice/snow tires, used, fantastic shape, and cheap. In the spring I'll rethink the whole A/T tire thing.

Post back with your opinion of them. I'm a big fan of Pirelli tires... at least on Jaguar and Mercedes. Haven't tried them on a SUV and would like to know if they're worth it.

for your limited off road use and some snow use on 18" wheels go grabber at2 255/60 and dont think about it again.

if you were gonna go to a 16" wheel and needed something more aggressive i would say goodyear duratrac. but for what you require id stick with the AT2. all the tire you will need
