Default No 16" Rims on a 2003 or 2004..?

Hey Guys,

I am trying to order a set of those NITTO Trail Grapler M/Ts for my 2004 Disco, and I planned on buying a set of 16" rims to go along with them: http://www.nittotire.com/#index.tire...grappler.sizes

BUT...

My guy at Discount Tire says you can't put 16s on a 2003 or 2004 Disco, because they have too big of a braking system.

Is that correct?

Thanks!!

Incorrect. However, there are very very few rims with the right bolt pattern to fit on a Disco.

Good to know... do you have a link to some decent looking black ones that would? Or are there any special markings I need to look for which will bolt up?

THANK YOU for the good tip!

I like the 18" wheels, but I don't think NITTO is going to make an 18-inch version of the Grappler M/T ;(

http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/3030.cfm?bc=ab if you're into steel wheels. I'll be getting the same ones for my DI eventually. Dunno of any black alloy wheels though.

Wow, I NEVER thought of looking there!

Thanks, I'll check to see what else they have as well.

Hey Hazlet- Will those steel rims rust badly? Is there any way to stop the rust?

Also- my wife's Rover (2000 Disco) has 16" rims. Can I jsut stick my 18s from my 2004 on hers, and put her 16s on mine?

THANKS!

Pat

I don't think they'll rust but I'm not positive. I would think that's some tough paint on there and that would stop most of it. Swapping the 16's from your other Disco should work just fine though, same bolt pattern and everything.

SWEET- that's what I'm going to do, then. She won't be able to get the trail grapplers, but she's mostly on the freeway, anyway.

I am gunna miss those low profile road tires in the summer... but this will be better.

THANK YOU!
