Default no amigos, one amigo, three amigos, no amigos

I replaced my ball joints a few week ago and bungled my abs sensors. They were original anyway so I got some new ones. 2000 Disco II. The hubs are original, too. About 150,000 miles. Well taken care of. It does have a vacuum leak that I cannot fix right now, probably injector o rings or plenum gasket. I have all of the parts but they are slated for mmy new engine.

So I put the new sensors in and nothing changed. I reached out to the forum and a great guy mailed me his ABS Amigo. It should be here today or tomorrow and I want to get the codes and send it back immediately.

This morning I had no amigos for the first time ever since the ball joint job. While driving, the ABS light came on, then when I braked, I heard a ding a they all came on. When I started back up, I had the ABS light then it went out and nothing came on as I drove home. All of the lights are off now.

So, this problem seems intermittent. I know I can't fully figure it out, if at all, until I hook up the Amigo but the intermittent nature of it is causing me to suspect the hubs. Could this be hubs? Could it just be vacuum? I just want to be ready so I can diagnose it, clear the codes, and mail the Amigo back in on smooth motion.

Best,

Charlie V

I should add: on the last go round with the amigos a couple of months ago, an abs Amigo showed a shuttle valve problem. I swapped a good shuttle valve in from my part rover, which had no amigos.

I second the Option B fix. I nervous going into it, but It went off without a hitch and have been free of the Amigos for several months now. I did not replace the shuttle valve switch just rewired as directed.

Well, I bet it is still the shuttle valve. I don't mind messing with it. I'll let you know what I find out.
