No check engine light, but still have "Pending codes"

No check engine light, but still have "Pending codes"
I had a check engine light for O2 sensor and lean system (P0150 and P0174). I replaced the indicated O2 sensor and had codes cleared and the light has stayed off,....but it flunked the state inspection. When I had codes checked again,....no codes indicated,....but my original codes were "Pending". The state inspection shop told me to drive it.............so....now 80 miles later,....they are still "Pending" and still no check engine light.
Can anyone tell me if this is normal.............and if it just takes more driving for the Pending codes to clear??

What you have is "NOT READY" the ECU needs to relearn
as the battery was disconnected or the ECU needs to see the new
02 sensor.
Driving the truck will reset the ECU.
Look at the Insp paper they gave you it will say "not ready" and it will not
pass insp with 3 or more in TX 2 or less your good to go.

RE: No check engine light, but still have "Pending codes"
Mike, all,
I got tired of bugging the guys at Advanced Auto parts for code checks and resets,...so I negotiated a deal on their top of the(their) line Actron P9180. Normally $200 with tax. I think actron makes one that is better than this,....but Advanced doesn't carry it.
So, this last reset was done by me using my new P9180. Do I need to spend more than $200 to get a scanner that will remove the codes not just store them more deeply?

You need to find where ht e code is still being stored.
A few months ago, my truck was in for a check up, check for another issue and found a code, still stored in the system, even though the original code/light was cleared over a year before.

ECU time to reset.
Your scanner can read readiness that is all you have to do,,
once it has only two "NOT READY" you are good to go!!
I teach people to do state inspections in TEXAS.
