My 265/60r18 (30.5in) rubs my bumper pretty good fully aired. I wouldn't go any larger than that.

Given that the carrier flip is a FREE fix, I don't see any point in not doing it properly

Chuck Norris flipped his D2 so the spare would fit.

Just an alternative.

You're just got to re-write the middle two holes and trim a little with the hack saw for your wiper arm, then you don't have to worry about your spare falling off and causing thousands of dollars worth of damage and possibly injuring someone at Highway speeds.

I am not worried about the tire vibrating off.

you rebel you...
are you lazy or just not capable of the DIY flip to do it the "right" way?
I did it last night at dusk in literally 20 minutes.

Just lazy I guess. As you pointed out with the use of quotations in your response I am not sure there is a "right" way to do it. This is just an alternative that's all. As far as my capability I know my way around the truck pretty well. But when it came to time and effort on this little project I was short on both.

Congrats on your speedy carrier mod with hardly any daylight. May I suggest using some sort of light source on your next project? Just an idea, I use light bulbs all the time. I am looking forward to more of your super informative and considerate posts.
