Default No need to flip your carrier for an oversized spare

I know I am not the first.

Let the "you'll shoot your eye out" comments commence.

Probably won't shoot your eye out.

But, the eye of the guy driving behind you when that thing vibrates or otherwise comes loose?

Aren't you worried about the liability at all?

so....to be clear, your last cryptic thread "look this good" was in reference to new tires?

That looks like a kinda stupid idea. A better idea would be to flip the whole spare mount like I did.

You're just got to re-write the middle two holes and trim a little with the hack saw for your wiper arm, then you don't have to worry about your spare falling off and causing thousands of dollars worth of damage and possibly injuring someone at Highway speeds.

I probably sound like a prude on this, but I am always worried about some idiot thinking they are going to get rich off of me. Feel sorry for the poor sap that actually tries. "The court has just awarded you all of cybercop's lent in his pocket"

That being said, have you ever thought of something like this for extra security?

My spare was held on by two studs....one was broken off. I finished off the second while removing the spare to fix the wiper arm....and the third remains.

My plan it to blow out the broken ones with the plasma torch and weld a plate with relocated, new studs a bit higher.

For now, no spare. One stud seemed too iffy for me.

It was the whole package. Tires have been there for a while.

Good call. I don't think I would do one stud either.
