Default No reverse gear, 🤔

Has anybody experienced having no reverse gear and all your drive gears are working fine. This just happened to me today. Earlier I was driving with a trailer and reverse is working fine. Then later afternoon I get to the hospital because my daughter is having a baby, I try to back into the parking spot and it would not go. it would bump into reverse but then hit the gas and it was just Rev.... I said what the heck is going on? I figured maybe it was just so hot from today maybe fluid is low 🤔 but then I started up quite a few hours later and still the same thing. Has anyone experienced this as well?

Hey I never answered you on the lights on the shifter and dash But they do coordinate with each other. It's just weird I'm thinking it may be the shift solenoids in the valve body But i'm not sure. And it'll probably run me a few hundred just to bring it somewhere that may not be that familiar with LR transmissions

I doubt it is the solenoids, they almost never go bad. More likely the reverse clutch is gone. Entire disassembly required. Few ZF trans rebuilders in the states but there are a few. Might want to consider swapping in replacement from a breaker given they rarely fail despite your personal issue.

Thanks for the input. I do have a spare donor vehicle i can swap from. Would know if there an upgrade kit or anything i could do to freshen that one up before I put it in the driver?

There are, but the HP24 is the upgrade from the HP22. How many miles on the donor? I would probably just send it, maybe consider a sight glass for level. https://extinctmotorsports.com/land-...l-sight-glass/

Well Thank you for your reply sir. I'm not sure how many miles really. I think 150K I have to check. My driver is at 165K.
I only drove it like 10K miles in the last 5 years. Yeah that sight glass plug is worth a piece of gold. I'm not sure how to really properly check this level such a pain in the ***. I've tried checking it when it's hot. It always just shot out at me (burning me and i dropped the plug in he oil. What a mess. I'm like how did it get so full? I had a transmission service done on it, it just seems maybe it's overfull?

Well in any event I have no other alternative but to try this donor I just wanna make sure I do the proper service and filling of the fluid. I will pick up one of those sight glass plugs. Why on earth they did not put a dipstick in this transmission is beyond me.

Oh, What do you mean when you say "I would probably just send it"?

Install it and drive it. They are pretty foolproof. Be sure to read the entire transmission section in the rave manual - how to check the level, how install the torque converter. Make damn sure that torque converter does not move forward not 1 freaking mm when you remove the trans. Otherwise you get to make sure it is properly seated.
