No running after water crossing
i guess tomorrow night is fuel pressure..
since you have to take off the upper intake to get tot he schrader valve, i assume you hook up the gauge and then reinstall the intake and attempt to start

i saw the video his friend was taking.. no where near the airbox. just over rocker panels.
If the CPS was faulting would it not be hard to start? I thought about that too, but it starts so easily when i hit the key, i ruled it out. From my experience with CPS failures on other makes, when it goes, its a no start or very hard starting situation.
it the rover going to be different?

You'll also need new lugs.
The cps can work intermittently. There are countless threads here that discuss truck starts and runs. Many state poorly but who knows.
I believe theres a start circuit and a running circuit. Perhaps you're losing power on the running circuit.
The start circuit/run circuit is what I am wondering about.
This is has me scratching my head.
i am checking fuel pressure tonight.
I don’t think it’s the CPS simply because using the inline spark tester all cylinders were getting power from the coils, even when it would not start. Unless I am missing something this tells me it’s not a CPS issue, unless the Cps controls fueling, not ignition..
i am am also stuck at the fact that it would not run with starting fluid?????? That’s why I was worried and pulled the plugs to check compression.

Plugs had no water
if plugs were wet and shorting it shouldn’t immediately start.

CPS does control fueling, just don't remember if it cuts injectors or fuel pumps or both. I don't believe it cuts ignition, they do it that way to prevent engine flooding. Fuel pressure test or jumpering relay will tell you if it is cutting the fuel pump. CPS is one of these things that is easy to change, relatively cheap, and small in size, I carry a spare in every Disco
no water got into the interior, on the disco2 the ecu is in the passenger footwell i think.
so can the CPS fail and still deliver spark, but cut fueling?

I'm putting my money on the CPS.
Maybe water got into the connector and is shorting out, it would start and stop.
Replace it with a known good CPS? If you have one. Or replace it with a new one and not worry about a CPS related failure for the next 10 years.
