Hello all,

New symptom with the Rover today. Go to start and all lights go out like normal, yet then dim like normal to allow for starting power, yet nothing happens. 'Clicks' happen, everything electrical lights up like normal all that works, but just no starter sound or engine turnover. I just had the positive battery cable replaced today (thought I could get away with just that cheap fix) yet truck is still doing it. I've gotten it to eventually fire, but on the 3rd or 4th try.

I'm wondering if the starter needs to be replaced? Shop said everything else in the electrical system was good (alternator, battery is new etc.) Just wondering if this is a usual thing. Truck is an 01 with 210k on the clock. Thanks!

It might be the starter. Might be the batt neg cable. Might be the battery (easy).

Do you have a voltage on this when things are happening? (ultra gauge etc)

 

Yea! SE (Sellwood and LO) - and yea so battery is charging from 13.2-13.4 volts (with ScanGuage II) Columbia Roving said neg battery cable is fine. and altenator is fine. so it kinda seems like last step is starter? The truck has 210k on it, and it sorta seems like sense I've had it it has mainly all original parts haha.
