Noise behind speedometer...

Hi all.
Some days noisier rattle than others, last night arriving home unplugged the thermo-sensor fan by reaching its connector with the fuse compartment door open. That fan behind the little grille by the left knee.
When drove out today, there was no noise.
A couple of hours later, started again. Like dependent on turns and unevenness of road as always, with the feeling of being 'worn bushings' on a spinning something.
Got home, left engine running, opened the fuse compartment and confirmed the fan was still disconnected. No noise idling. Re-connected, no noise, fan running smooth and quiet.
Removed the ignition key, closed the fuse compartment door and heard two chime 'dings'.
1.- Is there another fan behind the instrument panel ?
2.- Dings when closing the fuse door ???
The electrical wiring is notoriously unmolested everywhere, like new.

SOLVED.
Disconnecting the fan misled me when the noise persisted. Then it was all about finding the rattle source more than achieving quieting.
Removed the little fan from vehicle. Shaking it, there it was. Opened removing its two screws.
The fan shaft had longitudinal play. Added a 0.5mm thin fiber washer (can be made from paperboard) on top of the brass bushing, added a tiny bit of grease, reassembled, made sure the play is gone and spins, added a 2mm thick piece of sponge under the thermistor PC board, which also had some movement, reinstalled and done.
No more rattle behind the speedometer. By the way, pulled the speedometer cluster, and there is no other fan behind it.
Hope others can also save the replacement $$$ for 0.001cents. You may want to secure an appointment with the chiropractor before starting the fan removal. It is reached with the fuse door opened.
