Red face Not idling very good?

Ok I dont have any code other than the old ones Cyl 1 cyl 8 missfire pluse a random wissfire! I have replaced the plugs + wires no change!
When I start it the smell of gass is heavy in the air and some very small back fires will happen some times if given gass!
Any Ideas guys????

Sounds like you have a plug wire or two crossed.
Double check your work.
The backfires are the sign pointing to the plug wires on the wrong plugs.

Could it be running too rich? Smelling heavy fuel makes me suspect it.

I realy dont think it plugs wires! YES it is running rich very strong smell of gass with a small back fire?
I think it could be MAF, oxigen senser, Coil pack, something with the fuel injector, or maybe a stuck valve?????
Help me rule some of these out!

It's not the MAF, you have none of the normal MAF codes to justify buying one.
Are you plugs wet with gas, and or black and sooty?
If it were mine, and none of the injectors were leaking, then I would look at the compression for a possible burned/stuck valve.

I am realy thinking it is just that stuck Valve becouse this happen when towing!
I was looking on line at some Lucus upper cylinder lub and some lucus injector cleaner I am hopping that will free it up!
I hope that does the trick!
I have not looked at the plugs yet I will take a look!

I would never be able to be a landrover owner if wasnt for my hunting truck 1983 suburban with a million miles on a old 350, rochester carb with like every vacuum hose pluged but one, it has like 7 fuses total, painted realtree camo from front to rear, 6 miles a gal city and 12 hwy BUT if I look at it starts every time heck I dont even need a key! The most exspensive part on the truck is yokahomas $1100!
Who want a 2000 Landrover discovery? it will make a great boat ancher or maybe a target! Real cheep make me a offer...
