Default OBD 2 scanners

Yesterday I saw some OBD 2 scanners at a store. One was about $70, another almost $100. I was wondering what you guys think about OBD 2 scanners at this price range. Are they worth buying at all? Are they going to report all the codes that '03 Discovery can generate? I guess there must be some kind of a catch here, I don't think the professional shops use this kind of scanners.
Thanks,
Adrian

OBD 2 scanners are good for getting the codes when the check engine light comes on or to see if there are any codes being recorded or stored and for turning the light off. usually the scanners come with a booklet to tell you what the numbers mean and the more expensive scanners will put that info on the screen for you. these scanners however will NOT access your abs system for your abs, t/c and hill desent lights. dealer or a repair facility that has an autologic or test book diagniostic system. but again the obd 2 scanners are good to have for the annoying check engine light problems.

If you buy a scanner, make sure it will also clear the codes once the repairs are made.

If you are near a store who has the scanners (ex: Auto zone, Advance auto, etc) they will usually do the scan for free and give you the codes. But if you want to do it your self I would go with the best quality one. I looked at a few at Auto zone and I decided that I would just stick with getting the free scan because they do it all the time and its FREE. But like I said if you do end up buying one be sure it will do everything the disco needs it to do.
