Scanners....What type to buy.
Money is a big factor. I need to know the cheapest scanner that can pull and reset codes for a 2000 Discovery 2. I will at some point be trying to rent the ABS amigo from the member here but I would like to buy the other scanner if it is affordable. Will any OBDII scanner work? What provides the most bang for the buck?

I guess there is some software scanner programs that interface with your laptop that you can get...Anyone have any experience with these? Which once provide the most bang for the buck?

most odb2 scanners will work. you can get a cheap one on ebay for $50 or less but if you want something to read live data expect to pay $70+ or have a laptop handy and buy a cable based system that runs live data to software on the laptop

You can buy a cheap scanner that only reads and clears codes for $40 easy on ebay (autozone has a model for $50 on sale once and a while). Ebay will be your best best for a full featured scanner that reads live data for $60, search around. You really would like a scanner that reads live data, it comes in handy.
