Default OBD II reader not reading all avail data

My service engine soon light has been coming on for 1171 and 1174 codes. I have been reading them and clearing them without any issues. The other day I went to read and clear them, and the only data the reader would read is rpm, throttle %. No O2 sensor, coolant temp etc. When I go to read the codes it comes back with no codes in the ECU, when the service engine soon light is on.

I am using a Bluetooth OBD II reader with Torque (Android). I the reader works in other vehicles OK.

What could be causing this?

Try stopping by a parts store for a free code read with one of their scanners. Would verify if OBDII port was delivering data. The question of which software package is corrupt (the hard coded one in the ECU, the smarty phone, the Bluetooth converter) can be resolved.

Torque does have some compatibilty issues with the cheaper chinese obdii readers. My cheap chinese reader will occasionally stop working and I have to restart everything.

Once you get the fault code numbers from the parts store, get them to us so we might help you.

I hope it is not the ECU. The reader/tablet works fine in my 99 DII. (I just got the 99 running this weekend, its future doesn't look good. That's another story)

A couple of weeks ago I worked on some of the headers in the pass footwell (due to corrosion). Well, I just looked in the rave and the OBDII port is fed off header C0286, one of the ones I worked on. To be exact 7 sources of info (DCU - Airbag, ECU-Cruise, ECU-ACE, ECU-SLS, ECU-AT, BCU, ECM) and 1 feed to the diag port.

I hope my problem is there.

Just realized that I didn't update this thread on the cause. The problem was with the header. I ended up replacing it with a header that I got form Paul Grant.

As for the codes, I found that the clamp on the intake hose on the throttle body was the source of the problem. I moved the position of the clamp toward the throttle body and I the code has not come up since.

So you had an un-metered air leak?
