Default O2 sensor just got more interesting...

Replacing all 4 would be a good idea, will certainly take care of the 174 and the 1174 codes. The 159 just can't handle the front sensor being down.
Hi,

After taking your advice, I inspected all O2 sensors. I was very surprise about my findings, the voltage levels in all 4 sensor plus other indications tell me that the mix is too rich in fuel. But the P0150 code relates to "lean", which is the opposite. Could the computer be bad? or the connections among the sensor is such that they are force to default to a level that creates the "rich in fuel" condition when one fails.

has anybody needed to replace the computer, 'cause a P0150 error?

thanks,
Joe

A 150 code is an 02 sensor malfunction for bank 2 sensor a, it is not a lean code.

Yes, absolutely agree...maybe I'm not interpreting the failure right. What is the result of a P0150 failure when it comes to the engine fuel mix? could it be anything lean or rich, etc? or not related at all?

thanks,
Joseph

replace all 4 sensors and you will be done. The code is a generic code just telling you that something is different about that sensor. It could be that you just replaced that one, and your other 3 are too shot to keep up. The result could be a number of things.

The engine will run either full lean or rich on the passenger side.

Hi,

I'm going a little crazy here with the P0150 error. I see the suggestion is to replace all four sensor, but why? The error is very specific to one sensor. I already replaced the sensor twice, and the P0150 error keeps coming back. I though maybe the ECU is the problem, but after looking at the cost of one(>$450)...well let me do a little more research before expending so much money just to find out it wasn't the ECU. I checked the wiring, connections, etc...the obvious stuff! nothing I can see.

Suggestions please?
Options:
a) Buy three more sensors for $65 ea. Although the error relates only to one.
b) Replace the ECU-MHK100920 $450 plus labor...I probably will not tried myself.

I'm incline to take the general forum suggestion and blindly go for a).

thanks,
joe

yeah, the other 3 are worn out. There is a reason why we say to change them all at once. When one fails, the others could be close. Kinda like tires.

Hi,

I finally understand why people love, and hate the Disco. Just when we were getting more happy about our purchase...front panel light when on!

Recently we replace all O2 sensors fixing the previous issues, and passing the SMOG test. Last weekend after a relative small drive we got a P1413, and P0441 OBD codes. The Disco is 03, SE, ~83K miles so I'm assuming that theses errors relate to parts that need to be replace as part of maintenance.

Could you please point me in the right direction, do I need a mechanic or could I fix it myself. I'm handy but don't own any special tools.

thank you,
Joseph Lockhart

Hi Mike,

A few months ago you help me understand a few problems with my Disco. I hope you have some time to shed some light on my confusion. We own a '03 Disco SE w/ ~84K recently had a engine light with the P0159 code and others. After your advice replace all O2 sensors, resetted the computer and everything was good (passed SMOG). Last weekend after a relative short drive ~40 miles, two things happend: 1) I got the yellow light that looks like the back of the car with arrows pointing up on both sides. 2) Trying to understand the problem I read the codes P0441, and P1413. I dont think one has to do with another so please let me know if I'm wrong.
I resetted the computer and was waiting to see if it comes back, today we got a "Service enginee light", read the code and now I get a P0430.

So I'm totaly confuse of what's the problem? any ideas?

thanks,
Joseph
