Default Odd Question, but here goes

What is the best way "covertly" to keep a D2 from starting when the key is turned? I know rovers like to keep us guessing, and there are lots of no start threads, and Lucas strikes again type threads, but I would like to be able to on occasion make the D2 unable to start with the key, and be able to easily remedy the problem when I want to drive it to allow it to start, again somewhat "covertly". Yes, I am dealing with some less than honest possible person or persons here.

I know there are some relays that I could remove, but anything you can think of that would be relatively easy and maybe done from the driver's seat? Any insights would be appreciated. I have thought of a few ideas, but wanted to see what others may think.

Fuel pump cut off switch.
Add another light switch on the dash next to the fog lights or the like, wire the cut off into there.
Turn the key on, press switch, fuel pump comes to life, start truck.
But the key is the button looks natural, like it was there from the factory.
You can buy a new button at the dealer, like for the fog lights for cheap.
Pop out the blank, install and wire.

I like it, much better than taking the fuel pump relay out. This is the cutoff under the hood, correct? The inertia switch?

Yep, just go in series with inertia switch. It is normally closed and opens to shut down pump. Needs to handle 5 - 10 amps. But if this person observes your new start sequence the game is over. So such a method might no be good for a wayward teenage son.

You could try something similar to this:
Amazon.com: LOGISYS RM02 12v 15A relay w/ remote control kit: Computers & Accessories Amazon.com: LOGISYS RM02 12v 15A relay w/ remote control kit: Computers & Accessories

basically its a relay but has a remote, unless you're near it and switch it on it wont work. A bit more high tech than a switch but you can keep the remote separate from the key so even if the key is swiped or the starting sequence is seen it can't be completed by a 3rd party without the remote. I'd recommend installing in a different place than the engine bay though because I'm not sure of the temperature tolerances of that unit.

I would not mess with the inertia switch.
I was thinking more along the lines of the fuse, stop power from passing through the fuse.
