Default OEM CD Changer...

My apologies for this rather obvious question but I cannot find a way to engage the CD Changer found under the passenger seat.

When I press the CD button on the OEM Navigation unit it notices there is a Navigation CD inserted and states "NAV CD!" if i press CD again it does not change over to CD Changer. The Changer has power, the wires are connected but I cannot control which disc or hear any of them. (Previous Owner installed an XM/Sirius Tuner. I am not sure how it is wired and cannot engage this device either but would one rule out the other? Is there an AUX port that the SatRad device would utilize or would the CD Changer have to be disconnected in order to function?)

It is possible that the xm/sirius tuner is interacting with the stereo through the CD Changer's port on the back of it. That is how GROM units work.

If you take out the stereo, use the ends of a file folders top brace broken in half, and a panel separator. Works like a charm.

Probably, but the make shift file folder tool worked infinitely better than the stereo tool that I have. It audibly clicks the pins holding the stereo in. You can then use a panel separator to pry it out. Use something plastic or you may damage the top of the stereo.

All you will need to do is simply remove the xm stereo deal and replug the cd changer in if that is what is causing it. I seriously doubt anyone would remove the wiring harness for the cd changer as it would be totally unnecessary.

do you have a photo of this home made binder contraption? i would rather use that if it will not cause damage or scratch surrounding trim panels.

Rave has photos of the factory tool along with the instructions. I figured out the file folder trick from Rave, just from seeing those pictures. I literally believe the radio was designed to use the file folder hangers for removal.

If you google it I believe there is even a video of someone using it, but that is how I found it. "Land Rover Discovery II Stereo removal"

Got it, thanks. I was searching specifically for the navigation but I guess it's the same thing just with the clips at the bottom.

hahaha... very cool. british vehicles never cease to amaze me. some things are over engineered other things are rudimentary. It either works or it doesn't.

I went out to the vehicle this evening to pull the radio/navigation... I start it up and first thing I notice is the unit is indication that there is a CD. The CD icon is blinking. I press CD and disc one plays... I did nothing except let the car sit over night... very odd but now a new issue emerges... how does one change to CD2/3/4/5/6?

There's a next button, info should be in owner's manual if not one to experiment.
