Default off to the dealer...

bought my 95 disco w/123k on it,now has129k in just over a year, new tires ,I'm the second owner. tune up, fuel pump, fresh oil, and original owner took to land rover religiously. since I bought it, replaced brakes, pads and rotors, had a bunch of bulbs and little nit picky things go wrong,(the wife is fed up!), I love my landy! go to start 2 days ago, 3 false starts, think maybe battery or alternator, when it does start she's smoking like a freight train, this stops after a few minutes, go on about my business, well heck, long story short... blown head gasket. tokk to my regular guy, he won't do it, neeeds too many landy specific tools, have extended warranty covers it(yeah!)have to go to dealer.first, i've read this is pretty normal, any idea how much, my warranty covers up to $6500. second my warranty runs out in 10 months, anything i should look for? thanks for letting me rant you guys rock later. Bill

Default RE: off to the dealer...

First tell your other mechanic, there are no special tools other the the one needed to take the fan off and that isn't a big issue.
Your dealer will run a bill of around $2200 plus depending on what they find, with your mileage, your heads may need some work which your warranty may or may not cover so be prepared.
Good luck,
Mike
