If it helpx make your list, get it together and load it all up. Then make a checklist and every time you go out review the list , if you do not use something after a couple of trips ask yourself if you really need it. In general, although it may seem obvious this does not apply to, recovery, 1st aid and basic tools.

LR D2 First Aid kit:
Tow Strap, shackles, shovel, gloves, open end wrench set, socket set, spare oil (1 to 2qt), water, air compressor, tire plug kit, and a few small 2x4 pieces (great trick on how to get unstuck using them), flash lights, small sledge hammer, and of coarse a personal first aid kit.
Now if your camping = small stove, fuel, hammock, tent, sleeping bag, fire extinguisher, food, axe, knifes, flash lights, rope, water, snacks, meals, and personally = hidden firearm that not even your spouse knows about!!! I never camp without one hidden in my pack or vehicle. I’ll take my chances with a fine vs being dead.
