Default oh so sorry....three amigos....again

sorry to make another post about these lol, but i just wanted advice specific to my problem.

99 disco II
135k miles

three amigos came on when i had to slam on my brakes a while ago, pads and discs were both in need of change at the time, all three systems non-functional thereafter.(lights would come on occasionally before but systems functioned).

brought it to a mechanic today to get ferodo kit installed and paid extra $80 for him to mess with the three amigos. he cleared codes(was throwing a eratic rf wheelspeed sensor) and they have not returned and systems are functioning properly but abs light is staying on. now this is all with the original brakes still installed im wondering what my chances are of the new brakes+cleaned sensors making that light go byebye? he mentioned it may go away after driving it a while but i dont know... scanner showing no codes btw.

TIA

Replace your bad brakes, go have the codes cleared and see what happens. You may need to replace a speed sensor or not and won't know till you try it.

Make sure your guy opens the bleeder screws when he compresses the calipers and tops off the reservior. Otherwise you are pushing all that gross brake fluid that was exposed to heat back up in the abs valves

Not true.
There is not enough brake fluid in the caliper to go much past the first foot of brake line.
Do make sure that after replacing brakes you alswys do a full fluid replacement of apx. 3 pints of DOT 4.

mechanic just called.... when they got new brakes on and test drove it the lights came back, its saying erratic rf wheelspeed sensor and alternator is undercharging. could old battery or grimy connection to battery cause the last one?

o ya he quoted $250 parts/labor to do the wheelspeed sensor, is this good?

edit: okay so i guess hes testing the power coming straight from alternator and not just reading codes....i need new alternator, best source for rebuilt ones?

There are no tools to clear the ABS codes, just expensive scanners.
You need to have them verify if it is the speed sensor or a warn hub causing your problem, both can give the same fault codes.
As for the quote, seems low, but more then fare.
