RE: OIL FOR A 96 DISCOVERY
Where are you located? I am in OK and run 10W40 in the winter and 10W30 in the summer.
Throw the whole can of seafoam in the tank. With that mileage, you may consider and engine flush with ATF and doing an induation cleaning. Search the forums to see what other people have done for this. If you still ned help, just shout.

RE: OIL FOR A 96 DISCOVERY
I am in New Jersey and I have been using synthetic Mobil 1 5W-30W since the truck broke 100k in miles.
We do not get a really cold winter until late January and February. Most of the time we are above freezing, so changing to a 10W 30W during that time is not really worth it.
