Default Oil Change on 2004 Disco 2

My 2004 Disco 2 will reach the mark of 90,000 miles, I need to begin changing the oil myself. What grade and brand should I use?

I would use either rotella T6 5w40, Mobil 1 5w40 TDT, Delo 5w40 or delvac 1 5w40. I also like the longer oil filters like a mobil 1 301 or Napa Gold/Wix 51515

Rotella 15w-40 with a NAPA or Purolator oil filter.
Change it every 5,000 miles.
Screw full synthetic, a good heavy duty oil is cheaper and just as good.

Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w-40 & either Mobil 1-301 or a K&N 3001 oil filter.

I wouldn't use a K&N oil filter for $15 when a $6 filter will do a better job.

Another Rotella fan here....T5 10W-30 on sale at Wal-Mart for $11.50/gal. Rotella is usually cheap at Wal-Mart anyways.

How cold does it get where you are and what type of driving do you do? I would use rotella 5w-40 if it gets below freezing and 15w-40 if not. I use the synthetic 5w-40 only because it gets very cold here, otherwise I don't think it's really worth it with these vehicles due to the short oil change intervals that seem to be required (I change mine by 4k miles since it gets driven short distances and city driving).

I would not use a 15w40 anywhere there is a real winter. Sure you can do it but If you ever have seen how thick a 15w40 oil is at anywhere under 32F I think you would agree (not to mention the racket of a cold start with a thick oil).
