Default Oil Filler Neck Compatibility - Series I/II

Are the oil filler necks compatible between the Disco I and Disco II? Obviously the Series 1 neck is much shorter, but do they have the same threads top and bottom? As far as I can tell, they take the same o-rings top and bottom, and the oil cap itself is interchangeable.

I'm asking because my filler neck broke, and the replacement cost of the Series II neck is about $260 before shipping, but the Series I neck is only like $20. Aside from the inconvenience of the shorter pipe, would I run into any other issues using the cheaper part?

for 20$ , easy to find out..... my guess is that the threads are the same on the valve cover...why would LR retool it....

I think the cap is the same too...

Anyway, for anybody else seeking this information: I can confirm that the valve cover, filler neck, oil cap, and applicable o-rings are all interchangeable between series 1 and series 2 engines. I actually kind've like the new shorter filler neck on mine.

you will find that there is an amazing amount of hardware/engine and fittings/plugs that fit between jag and LR from late 80's to 2004ish. The disco II is a real conglomeration of these parts as it was the final run of a long haul series.

Yeah, as a prior mid-90s, early 2000s, BMW fan, it's amazing how many BMW parts I run into working on the Discos, and how much of my old spare parts bin from the BMW days carryover to these.

I like that shorter filler neck, The one on my D2 never works, usually when I unscrew the cap to put oil in, the cap stays in the neck and the neck unscrews from the valve cover. Nice green BTW, looks better than the usual red people do
