Default Oil/grease on Rear Rotor

While doing some brake work on my 04 I noticed a lot of oil/grease build up on the inside of my rear passenger rotor. I am also experiencing 3amigos plus brake light. I did the option B fix a year or so ago and it fixed them until recently.

Am I looking at just a seal, a new hub, seal and hub? What's the most affordable route to go when fixing? I've seen some crazy hub prices.

what is your code telling you?
need to figure out if its hub grease or diff. oil. the rear has an o ring back there.
make sure your vent tube is clear

I'm just getting the generic rough road code P1590 or something like that. My little $12 autel doesn't read abs. I will check the vent though.

1590....the real abs code will tell you if it is sensor low out put or whatever. easier than guessing as the 2 may not be related.

Anyone had any luck with any chain part stores having an ABS reader that works on these?

Chain store scanners won't do it.

Thanks I may take you up on that. If the amigos and leak are related is there anyway it would help me tell if it was the hub or just seal?

Pull the sensor off the hub 1st and check it. Sometimes the sensor can get eaten up by a bad hub. Trust me, I have a post on it here somewhere showing what it does.

Much less expensive to change the o-ring then the hub.

The oil/grease on the rotor is probably the axle 'O' ring shot. See RAVE page 51-1 item 2 and page 51-6 also figure M51 0052.

I had the same clag on the rear RHS rotor but no ABS codes and it was the O ring letting by on a 2003 at 120K, yours may be a different issue.
