Default Oil leak at crank shaft seal

My 2004 Discovery has had the front crank shaft seal replaced 4 times in the past 3 months. Is there something that LR is missing?

Sure sounds like LR is missing the ball. My 04 has never dripped an once from this seal with 80K. This isn't to say I don't have other issues!!!

My guess is that it is not the seal. Possibly the crack has a groove worn in it from the seal ( Not likely but possible).

Ask the question how they feel it is coming from the seal and why the feel replacing the seal 3 more times after the first hasn't fixed it. Clearly not the seal boys.

And finally take it so some other then the dealer.

Good Luck

I really hope they are not charging you each time they replace the seal? If they'll do it again for free, have them show you the old gasket.

I think Einstein might have been talking about that LR Dealership :"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
