That is exactly what happened to mine, except mine is an 04. My mechanic opened up the engine and said it looked BAD. caked, baked and fried is what he said. The oil pan looked like I never changed the oil, yet I have record of last 5 years of getting it done every 3K. Mike reffered me to get my engine from Landrover Parts online. If it is a bad design how can make sure it does not happen to my new "used" one.
