Default Oil Pan gasket...How easy is it?

Hey Guys I just got an 04 Disco and i needs to have a new oil pan gasket installed and also a new gearbox gasket as well with filter. I was wondering how easy they are to do. I have the parts and I am pretty good with cars just want to make sure... I normally just took my other one to a dealership. I also checked out the RAVE manual, but just wanted some advice if anyone has any that would help. Thanks!

I have cleaned my oil pan doing the Marvel Mytery Oil change for a 500 mile interval. It makes oil pan removal way easier if you have those 12,000lbs tire 8" ramps. Then raise your rear end if you have air suspension. Also the 2" OME lift rocks for working ground clearance! Also a air ratchet makes that job 10x easier and faster. Plus a creeper is also the way to go.

Creaper + jack stands. If you don't have a lift then raise the body as high as you can on jack stands, but don't raise the front wheels - you want to get more clearance between the oil pan and the front axle. It helps if you remove the front drive shaft, but it is not necessary, you get more wiggle room without the drive shaft. I used 2 long zip ties to hold the pan in place before fitting the bolts, let the pan hang on the zip ties, push the pan in place and then snug the zip ties up. Fit all the bolts finger tight before you torque them up, otherwise the gasket holes do not line up with the bolts.

For the Autogearbox, I followed this procedure. Very simple indeed.

Have not done the oil pan gasket, but when the time comes, I will definitely be doing it myself.

you will need a hand pump to get the tranny fluid in the pan I found a cheap one at pep boys that fits on the top of the quart bottles....it did alittle longer to pump the quarts dry but worked for my needs....found the pump in the oil section..
