oil pressure numbers
#12
thanks greg, ive already downloaded the rave and its een a big help so far. i know that for the 03s with the misaligned dowels the only fix is a new block. but i was wondering if mine has made it this far and the gears are just worn should i just change the gears or the whole cover. i know that the numbers are within "ok" range but iv seen some way better numbers. im jus wondering all this just in case the numbers start sliding a little more. maybe catch it before it damages the cover?
thanks

Your oil pressures are close enough to specs, I don't know that you could improve them w/o considerable time/money.
(remember the rave cd states the pressure relief activates @ 50psi. - If I had numbers above that, I'd calibrate my guage or suspect press relief was stuck)
I like to use other's numbers as guidelines only, I went the extra mile with my numbers by calibrating my "in truck" aftermarket guage (it read 5# low initially) with my mechanical test guage which compared favorably with a couple of other guages I own.
(you're looking for repeatability on readings)
(I used to test flow & pressures for work)
Read up on the "georotor oil pump" that LR went to in the early '90's .
It settled my nerves.
luck,greg
