OK, dumb question...how do I get at the fill plug for the transfer case???
Trying to drain and fill my t/case on a 2003 Disco II. How the heck do you get around the parking brake cable to get the fill plug out?????
Trying to do the same thing...! I think a 1/2" wobble extension can do the trick. You want to make sure you can open the filler plug first before draining it! Check out the following link: http://www.discovery2.co.uk/transferbox_oil.html
Yeah, been trying the extension thing, but it's not making life easy. Like the link from Fuego shows, you can't get straight onto the plug. Still trying to get it out, but I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing some easy trick. Mine just doesn't want to break and start to loosen. Will let you know how I make out. Thanks!
Well, the fill plug is out and now we're draining! I took a few combinations of various extensions and my breaker bar, but it finally let loose. One thing I'm learning about my Rover...if it's a serviceable part or area, let's put something in the way to make it hard to get at!!!
Did you get yours out Fuego?
Thanks again.
Did you get yours out Fuego?
Thanks again.
All done! I did check and clean the magnetic plugs and there was nothing major, just some minor accumulation. So, the t/case and diffs are done. Next weekend will be the tranny filter and fluid.
Thanks for the help!
Thanks for the help!
Glad YOU are... I am still not... Finally got the right tool (wobble extension) that I can get in, but for the life of me I can't get it undone. I spayed some Deep Creep on it and will try again tomorrow evening. I am sure glad I did not start draining before checking to see if I could open the filler plug!
