Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station.

It was warm for that time of year, -60F. Any colder and the planes don't land. They never linger. All cargo and pax are offloaded and onloaded with the engines running.

Probably the happiest day of my life...the day I was leaving the pole after doing some lengthy repair work on the airfield's TACAN beacon.

I spent 3 years, including 2 austral winters, in Antarctica.

I'm in no hurry to go back.

 

I thought that was the South Pole, can you get me a trip there? That is one of my must do's before I die, go to Antartica.
Would be better if I could drive my Rover on the continent, but just setting foot would do.

 

they used one of each of the 3 series throughout the show. the original quad webber cars from 77-79. a GTS-i 1st gen fuel injected car from 81-83 and a gts QV 4 valve car from 84-85.

mine is a 79. the last year of the carbed cars. carbs are most desirable
