Default Old Faithful finally quit on me...

so, here's the deal...

My 95 Disco won't start, she didn't leave me stranded, but, she's in the driveway, cranks for a few seconds, sputters, cranks for a few seconds, sputters...

No check engine light
I can hear the fuel pump running, when I'm under the tank and my wife is cranking the engine.
Fuel after the filter
fuel to the fuel rail, but, the schrader valve spits fuel as far as the windshield washer reservoir. once, it spit fuel as far as the fender, but, thats it.

I think I have a fuel pressure problem.

Question is, do the furl pressure regulators generally go bad? or am I looking at a fuel pump?

Any help would be really appreciated!!

If the filter is getting plugged, it will slowly leak by, but not give good flow. I would change the filter first.

Yeah start with the filter, behind the right rear wheel bolted to the frame rail.
Its a 12 USD part, so probably cost you 5 Frank's or whatever you guys use in germany.
It is a 15 min job unless the filter has never been changed then it is a all day job.
Make sure you use anti-seize on the threads when you put it back together.

my fuel filter has hose clamps on either side, maybe that's German spec...

but, it looks like a regular filter, only larger...

any thoughts on what other car that filter may fit? nobody has one pictured that has clamp on ends, that take hoses rather than banjo bolts...

my old '92 pathfinder filter would fit also.

Test your fuel pressure with a tire ga. just keep a rag under it.

Should have around 37psi, key on.

Is your check engine light on? - A bad maf will allow the engine to start, then shut off at 550 rpm (like it's not getting gas)

The DI maf is completely cleanable - use maf cleaner or electronic cleaner with no residue.
