Old Man Emu springs ?
I got a set of springs from a friend of mine that should be OME mediums. He isn't sure if he gave me the right ones because they were mixed in with some stock springs in his garage. Is there a way to identify these springs(markings, paint, etc.). These seem to be color coded. They are black springs but have different color stripes of paint going down the side of them (green, white, etc.).
Those are stock springs. They are marked at the factory with those colors to indicate spring rate and such. OME springs will just be black. Pay attention when you install the springs because OME springs are different front and rear as well as left and right. When you get OME brand new they come marked with tags for A and B referring to A for driver side and B for passenger. I didn't look close enough when I installed mine to tell if they were marked directly on the spring.
Ok, he must have givin me the wrong ones. I found this site that has the color coding for stock springs and these are color coded. Looks like the OME's have a tag on them with the Part #

I wouldn't waste your time reinstalling some old collapsed factory springs. If you decide to go OME, get back to us and we can help you pick the right set from the 4 different ratings they make.
I'm not putting the old springs back in it. My friend just mistaken these for OME. He has a set of Medium duty OME he said I could have that have very few miles on them, we just got to find them in his garage first.lol
Wish I had a friend like that when it was time to put a lift on my Rover. Mike makes a good point about reading up on the OME springs but I'd go with whatever he has if you're getting them for free.
