older disco wheels on 2004 disco II?

Congratulations to me! I am the proud new owner of a BABIED 2004 Disco II Westminster Edition with low miles... now it's time to make it my own.
I know the Westminster Editions are not all too common - but I really can't stand the three star/triangle wheels and want to replace them. I am considering going with smaller 16" wheels from an older disco and beefing up the tires more. Will the stock wheels from a late 90's disco fit my 2004? They are 5-lug but that is about all of the specs that I can find about them.
One other question - how large of a tire can I go with to best fill out the wheel well WITHOUT a lift? I am thinking that 30" or 30.5" is going to be the max. By going with a tire with a larger overall diameter than my existing - does the speedometer need adjusted? I have heard in the past that this is necessary. Who does this?
