Ohh yeah, I always run 91 octane... I am also not sure how the wire got that close to the drive shaft, I had it up on the clip and it didnt seem that there was enough slack in the cable, anyway got a new one on its way so I will report back tomorrow once I get it in.
Thanks guys
The Bosch MAF on a D2 is too sensitive. The filter lets way too much dirt through. You may notice a vey slight decrease in power, but you will get better fuel mileage with a stock paper one. There are countless posts on here about K&N filters killing MAFs on D2's. It is your call, but I would take it off.

Yeah, will grab a paper filter on the way home this evening... got another question, some of the codes that are comming out are EVAP codes, P0445, and 448, is there any chance that also is being caused by the O2 sensor being toast? And what about the P1884 anybody have any ideas on what that one means?

Until you replace the O2 it is going to be hard to tell. But I think the EVAP code has to due with your gas cap, it might be bad.

Allrighty... heres the latest, I just got the o2 sensor swapped out, along with the filter, and took the old girl out for a test drive... I cleared the codes before I left drove maybe 5 miles stopped, turn the car off and back on and there was the old dummy light. So I read the codes and cleared them back out then drove back to the hizzy. Drove down the street from my house and stopped again and turned it off and back up, and got 5 codes that keep coming back, P0445,448,102,1884,340. Now one thing that strikes me as fairly odd is that in the pending codes are heater circuit malfunctions on all 4 O2 sensors... Anyway, she is running better but still not back to 100% So, any tips on what to look at next?

Why are you driving and shutting it off and then starting it right back up? Engines dont like that.

Clear the codes and drive for a couple of days and see if the light comes back on.

I didnt just turn it off and back on... I realize that it is terrible on a motor, I waited about 10 min between stopping and starting... I will clear the codes before I leave for work in the morning and see what happens....

Going from a poor shifting transmission to swapping out the K&N air filter seems a bit of a stretch. aBs0lut30, the K&N website has a great deal of information regarding its oil contaminating MAFs. Read this thread for more information. Being well informed never hurts. Good luck with your Rover.
