I got over my affection for the BFG tires not long after high school. They are old technology at a premium price. You pay more for the BFG name. The slightest bit of ice or snow and the BFGs become ice skates.

I like the looks of the Coopers but I think it's another case of paying a premium for the name. But if you are having good luck with the Coopers, stick with them. Why tamper with success.

I'd be curious to know if those recycled are really any good at all.
Most recycled materials are weak and low quality, I cant imagine that a remade tire would last very long. But who knows, they might be the best thing ever. I've heard truckers use them all the time.

Coopers. I had the stock ATR's on mine and loved them. I got some 235/75 firestone's for a steal ($300 for rims and tires @ 500 miles), and I will be going back to coopers when these fall off.

I have been looking at the treadright tires myself, but my concern is balance on a re-cap, especially in an MT tire... I still use this thing on the road too....

Cam-truckers have to use retread tires, at $600+ for a single brand new tire, multiply that by 18 and that is a hell of alot of money.
Those "Super Single" tires that you are starting to see on trucks are $1200 each.

I really like the Cooper S/T, but at almost another $100 over the General it is a tough sell, thats almost another month of saving money.
Talked to a tire shop today while on my route and they say that the General is the exact same tread pattern as the BFG A/T, not quite the same but very close.

I am going to keep looking, pricing etc. and even look for some used rubber, if I can get a set of used M/T's for dirt cheap I might go that route.
I was going to buy a new laptop but the tires got moved up in priority, so if I can get cheaper tires then I can still get my pc sooner than later.
Yes I want my cake and to eat it too.

^^^ LOL!

I have a friend that got 4 brand new tires off some guy on I think craigslist. He put them on his truck, drove 250 miles, truck blew up, he sold the tires for like, IDK $250. My friend has a tire mounter, so 40 minutes later, he had brand new tires for cheap.

I looked on Craigslist and found a guy who sells used tires, $50 for a set of 4 and $20 to have them mounted and balanced, so for $70 you get a set of 4 tires.
I am going to check it out and see what hes got.
He just might have a set of awesome tires laying around.

Have you looked at the General Grabber a/t2?
They have gone up in price since I bought mine, but the 16" ones are still running for under $100 each. I have had nothing but good things to say about them. Great in mud, great off road (wet leaves, and stuff like that), and after a 7" snow (biggest in years for us!) I found that they do very well in snow and ok on ice. They might be over priced now that they have gotten so popular, but its worth a look.
