One side of AC isn’t working
So I pulled the temp sensor and cleaned it up and replaced the solar sensor inside (the one in the front and center of the dash) with a used one.
I made sure the AC clutch engaged. I got the following.
Driver’s side:

Passenger side:

Assuming the “new” solar sensor is working, do I assume the main HVAC control unit tanked?
The heat hasn’t really worked exceptionally well either, but I thought that was from lame bleeding during my cooling system fiasco.

OK, just ran it again. On the driver’s side, I get 50F still. I sat in the back seat and the foot vents were at 70F.
The good news is I got 44F on the rear AC vents!!!!
But getting to the point, I think this is blend door caused.

Rear AC is a hard requirement for me and my Discos.
I could see that low on Freon might be it, except that the air coming out of the rear is really cold. However, I also could see it being that because 50F I know is not to spec for a properly functioning system.
I’m sticking with blend door, but might try to get a can of r134 and see.
I wish this system was like many other AC systems I’ve seen that has a window on the receiver dryer that would show bubbles if the system was low. That’s admittedly back in the R12 days, but it would be nice to see that.

My mechanic says the Schrader valves tend to leak as they age, so he captured the freon and renewed the valves for me. Good results and not expensive. By the way, my 94 D1 has a window in the R134a system.
