Default Opinions please

I am having a hell of a time reading the oil level on my dip stick. Would it cause any problems to paint the end of it white? My main concern is the paint dissoving in the oil but it would seem a negligible amount... what do you guys think?

Doesn't seem like a bad idea, just make damn good and sure you let it dry LOL!

I can hardly read mine either! I wonder what paint would hold against the heat and detergents in the oil? Maybe paint it and bake it in the oven to cure it and heat treat it?

Buy two paint pens, one yellow and one red.
Paint the "ADD" mark with the red paint pen, then use yellow for the "FULL" mark.
Paint both sides of the dip stick.
Let it dry.

The other thing you can do is take a flathead screwdriver and scrap a nice thick line at both levels, this will never come off.

Score the high and low mark with a file then use a rat tail file to score the "in between".You'll be able to see your oil more clearly on the dipstick.

A good engine enamel will work. Just clean it well with brakeclean to get every bit of oil residue off.

yeah mine gets hard to read but not because of the color. Its because one side of my dipstick will say i need to add oil and the other side says i have way too much. i have to keep pulling it out, wipe it off, stick it back in, repeat multiple times. haha i eventually get a good reading
