Default Is this original front drive shaft?

Newbie here, please excuse. Bought this DII with 117k miles before joining this forum. Getting up to speed fast.

So this front shaft has the grease points so it may be ok. Any advice?

Wow Looks brand new!! Maybe previous owner replaced it not long ago( and spend good money doing it) Should last for a good while. Just keep an eye on it.

looks like it was replaced with a NOS drive shaft, they must have paid dearly. the only problem is it has all the defects of a stock drive shaft, the part you should worry about is the other end of the shaft, where the double cardon joint is.

Check the double cardon universals for grease fittings.
The factory driveshaft has a single "Greasable" Universal joint at the front differential (you posted a photo if this)
The other end (double cardon) is at the transfer case end, this fitted from the factory with non-greasable Universal joints.

Here's a couple of links that may help:

It does look in good condition. You are right to ask about it. INspect the U Joints every time you do oil and you will be able to tell when they wear. Because they are not greasable in the doubel cardon they eventually fall apart. You can visibly see it.

Thanks everyone, I'll look and post a pic of the double cardon end tonight. I'm sifting through a thick stack of service records (most everything done at LR dealerships) now and logging into a spreadsheet to set the repair/servicing baseline. Yeah sort of nerdy, but invaluable info. Luckily the original owner kept every service record. I've yet to add it all up, but I think SHE almost paid for this vehicle twice!

Default Yes, not what I hoped

Turns out it is the factory non-greasable version as most of you suggested. The stealership charged $861 for the part alone, it was close to $1k installed..... in 2010.

Looks like I've got a project ahead of me....
