Our awesome Rovers

This made me smile because surely the only similarity between our trucks and a race car is the increased amount of maintenance each requires.
The American version of "second is the 1st of the losers" is "If you ain't first, you're last."

The point being Dr Mordo is that so many acquire the car of their 'dreams' and because it takes some maintenance and can be expensive they abandon it to scrap in the corner of their driveway. That's the 'never give up on it bit', you've gotta keep going. If you quit you buy one of these: Résultats Google Recherche d'images correspondant à http://philip.greenspun.com/photo/pcd3815/dublin-deux-chevaux-20.4.jpg

While I have kidd-o's in the house, my 04 is my dream SUV. My son is learning leaps/bounds more than he would with a Carolla just with routine maintenance and upgrading...that's right, I get to justify upgrading with "but the boy will learn so much about math and engineering" (we homeschool One day I may opt for a 72-76 Ford Bronco in my empty nest.

I look forward to wrenching with my sons. But I have a while to wait - they're 2.5 and 0.4 years old right now.
If I got a vintage vehicle, it'd probly be a Triumph GT6 Mk III. I'd love classic muscle cars, but they have skyrocketed in price over the last 10 years.
But honestly, I don't know if I'll ever own another carbureted car/truck. If I never disassemble another carb it's fine with me.

I still quite like the Jaguar XKR, but again, it's the owning and running costs that put me off.
I've always fancied owning a Vette though. It's the Route 66 image I suppose.
I've still got a box full of old Solex, SU and Zenith carb bits somewhere. You're welcome to them

I love those Triumphs. They are classics.
And coincidentally I've been thinking my next car will be an XK8 or XKR. The problem is they are mostly convertibles, and I'm a hardtop guy.
I had a '99 Corvette I sold a few months back. While it ran like a beast, that thing had electrical problems I can't believe. I felt fortunate to get everything working long enough to sell it. There were things I loved about it, but many corners were cut in the design.

Good lookin car! Not sure if I'd fit! Looking to get a 968 Porsche Cabrio for my next car. Great thing is it's loosely considered a 4-seater, so that's family approved!

What movie is that from?
