im 2 states away and in CT. Got here, all well driving around 188 to 195 degrees all the way. Parked About 2 hours and after driving less than a mile, i overheated. I need to macgyver this. Any suggestions? Im far from home.

 

When she cools down,

#1: Is there still plenty of coolant in the system?
#2: Is the waterpump pumping?
#3: Are both fans working?
#4: Does coolant have a rainbow "sheen" when viewed at a slight angle to your light source?
#5: Does your oil look "milky"?

 

In the meantime, remove your front grill and check your radiator for obstructions. I've had an entire newspaper covering a radiator before...just freaky...must've flown up from the road somehow.

Also, check your oil level.

How to know waterpump pumping? Is it like the power steering where you see it flowing in the container?
fan works but not sure if its taking enough air in.

You've got 2 fans! Are *both* working?

 

When my truck suddenly overheated a year and a half ago with no loss of coolant and the serp belt in place the problem was the thermostat stuck in the closed or near-closed position. I'd start with that if no other problem is evident.

 

Both fan works. Aux works on startup. Checked the hoses up to 230 degrees before turning off engine and top hose where the Tee is was hot, after thermostat below is just warm. I can keep my hand there forever. Is the thermostat stuck? No leak or coolant loss.

 

You likely didn't see my post before you last posted. I think your hose temp analysis likely confirms what I suggested.

 

Either the thermostat and/or the waterpump not pumping.

There are 2 reasons that the thermostat is blocking coolant flow:
#1: a failed thermostat or
#2: a failed waterpump that doesn't flow enough pressure to open a normally-working thermostat. This is from 26-2-10 in the workshop manual: http://landroverresource.com/docs/D2...hop_Manual.pdf



You can bypass the thermostat to temporarily get yourself home if you've got or can obtain coolant hose that will fit, or you can replace the thermostat if a spare is available...or you can punch a hole in it...or even remove it if you've got a way to reseal that thermostat casing.


If you still overheat with a bypassed/new/or punched out thermostat, then the water pump is probably something you want to investigate next.
