Overheating without ac
I did not want to jack the other dudes thread about his overheating when using the ac, mine is the opposite and overheats without using the ac. Car sits around 188-194 but when it idles for more than a few minutes the temp slowly rises toward 210+ then raising the rpms lowers the temp, is this the same fix as the other thread? Something to do with fan clutch , I also have the 180 thermostat and recently flushed the cooling system 2000 miles ago
Looks like fan clutch. I did the newspaper test and it failed. Got in a new fan assembly and temps were down significantly at idle. I checked the old clutch, heated it up with a heat gun, although the bimetal spring turned the pin, there was no difference in resistance when turning the fan by hand. The old fan clutch clearly had gone bad.
