Default Oxidation

I've been guilty of not waxing the roof. It has white oxidation spots on above the windshield and the color of the vehicle is silver. Is it too late to try to remove and what are the products/quick fixes recommended?

Thanks!

Its never to late.
Sand it and paint it.
You can do touch up once you are down to bare metal.

Sorry to be a Dumb A$$, but I'm wondering if this is the cause of my roof paint peeling in one area. I had thought that paint quality was just another fun part of LR ownership, as I have seen my paint start to peel down to primer right above the front window, and in a few other spots that I would never wax. Is this happening, because I haven't waxed those areas?

cheers,
rich

Mine's lived in the deep south until last year, and was never waxed, so my paint's peeling on the roof too. I used claybar and then waxed it a couple times with Nufinish. It quit peeling (for now). I figure that most people aren't tall enough to see the top of my rover anyways :-)

My silver D2 has started showing a little also on the roof, you can talk with a body shop, usually it can be compounded out or if worse, wet sanded then throw a clear coat back on.
Start waxing your truck or it will start looking like an old sun burned jeep cherokee.

Default Roof Paint

Just from reading the posts it summed it up. I always wax the lower body in the Florida sun since living in Florida all of our Discovery's life and sitting in the sun the whole time. The clear coat has white spots in three areas and is past the point of rubbing out as determined by a paint supply shop. I never waxed the top since the Disco is lifted and it is no fun even washing the top w/a ladder.

In addition to the roof paint the following has cracked from the heat/sun

- both 'A' pillars
- wind shield front base wiper base cover
- front bumper in middle
- rear bumper at the top

The interior has held up except the headliner as it was recovered a few weeks ago. I tried the paint mod but the foam was too deteriorated from the heat.

Future projects have been reconditioning as the motor has 47K on it mostly cosmetic for now.
