Default P.S Pump?

I have had many issues with my 2001 Disco II (98,000 miles), I don't know what to do now... I have already replaced both heads, headgaskets, front drive shaft, master cylinder, and alternator this year alone! Now this morning when I drove out of my driveway I noticed a leak (quite large- about 2X2 ft) and a horrible noise when I turn. My first reaction was a power steering leak, but upon inspection there seems to be more than enough fluid there. What could this be? Could this be connected to the springing noise I get when I press the brake? Also all lights are on (TC, SRS, ABS, Check Engine, ect...).

All the lights stay on when running? Wow never seen that. I pray every time I start up that the lights turn off.

There is all kinds of fluid in these trucks. What color is the fluid and what does it smell like? Gear oil smells terrible if it is from your differentials. Also your front CV joint has a rubber boot full of oil so check that. Are your brakes really hard to press? It could be brake fluid from a caliper or brake line.

If you have a p/s leak and noise when turning, first, quit driving it, refill it to get the air out of the system and look to see where the fluid is coming from. Chances are id is a hose and if you are lucky it is the return line with a loose clamp.
To stop that noise, you may have to bleed the air from the p/s gear box thru the bleeder screw.

I haven't taken it anywhere to have the check engine light read. I was hoping because of the sound I was getting only when turning the wheel... that it would be a simple fix to just replace the P.S pump or top off the fluid. I dont know a whole lot about this truck and how to fix it. I am not taking my Disco to the dealership and paying an arm and a leg. Any suggestions???

I drove litterally 5 or 6 ft. and parked my truck and took my friends car to work, so I have not driven it. Could you possibly explain to me in more detail how to do this? Do I use Lucas power steering additive with stop leak or just regular p.s fluid? how do I bleed the air?

If you get the leak fixed, ASAP, before you burn out the pump, because of the low fluid level and air in the system, the fix will be pretty cheap.
As for the check engine light, it has nothing to do with the p/s noise.
Let us know what you find out.

Thank you Disco Mike! Do I use Lucas power steering additive with stop leak or just regular p.s fluid? how do I bleed the air? Or is this something I should take to my mechanic.... I just don't want to drive it to the shop and risk messing my truck up even more.
