P0001 - fuel volume regulator control circuit/open
P0002 - fuel volume control circuit range/performance
These are the codes my 2002 Discovery 2 are throwing with a check engine light. I’ve recently purchased this little ditty and I absolutely adore it already. I have no idea where to even begin diagnosing the problem.I unfortunately cannot register this truck until I resolve this, so there is a small sense of urgency here. I am having trouble finding much information on these codes and areas to begin solving the issues.
Any knowledge/advice is more than I have, and I appreciate your brain powers and assistance!

From the description of the codes themselves it sounds like there is a device to measure fuel pressure which has failed and created an open circuit, and as a result the ECU cannot determine if the correct pressure values are present so it's generating a code. Ashamedly, I don't yet know if these trucks even have that type of a sensor, or maybe the code reader you used was generic and it came back with those codes because it didn't know any better. If there were a problem with the pressure itself, you would see other codes relating to exhaust values being out of spec as well, not to mention performance would be impacted. Not sure how deep you want to get into the troubleshooting, but you should get a copy of the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual as well as the Electrical Library, or at least get them for your mechanic to save them the time if they aren't a LR specialist. With enough poking around, you should be able to find working links to copies of each of those .pdfs on this site. With those you can get a better idea of what's going on with the sensor situation. The emissions system has a pretty complex (for its day) fuel vapor recovery system as well which the 2002 may employ. Have you reset the codes? How quickly do they come back?
Congrats on the purchase. Hopefully there are others on this site who know more about these specific codes or systems. Fortunately for me I have not come up on that particular scenario yet so my advice is pretty general but this will at least give you something to do as you wait for other responses ;), and as a side benefit you'll learn a lot about how your truck works. There are also a couple fundamental things also worth noting.
Make sure your battery is fully charged
Make sure your gas cap is tight
Get something to monitor your coolant temps before you overheat
Good luck and keep us posted.
