Default P0441 Again

Been struggling to resolve the P0441 - evaporative emission system - incorrect purge flow error for awhile. I thought I had it beat by putting spring clips on the ends of my vacuum tubes for SAE. That seemed to resolve it for a while but it is back.

I have replaced the purge valve twice - the second time with the recommended Hyundai part. New gas cap and I cleaned the gas spout. Also did a smoke test and couldn’t find any leaks.

it doesn’t seem to have any adverse performance issues for me but I hate seeing that yellow service engine soon light.

is my next step to replace the tubing or is there something else I should try?

Make sure you have the correct connectors on the purge valve (black connector) and the SAI vacuum solenoid valve (gray connector).

Did you use a genuine Hyundai replacement? I ask because I went through 2 cheap Amazon "Hyundai Purge Valves" before looking for a better one. Like you, they would work for 1-2 months then start again with P0441 and P0455. First time I thought I just got a dud, so i got another. Last time I got this one and its been good since Dec.

Good Valve

The good one has the litte Hyundai logo on the shell and is noticeably heavier than the first two.

I pulled one of the cheap ones apart and found that the little metal plunger would sometimes get cockeyed and either not seal well (P0455) or not open fully (P0441).

Also...make sure the purge valve is horizontal. I read that if it is tilted or wrong position it can cause a CEL

The OEM LR replacement comes with new lines attached. Way back behind the intake you will see where it connects then it goes to the rubber line, Purge Control Valve, rubber line, and then in connects to the intake. I've had to replace several of those rubber lines, and I also replaced those awful OEM hose clamps with SS hose clamps. Also check the nipple aka tube which it connects to on the intake isn't loose. I've seen a few where those were loose and it sucked in air causing issues.

confirmed - connectors are correct. I even swapped them and it generated a bunch of codes until I swapped them back.

Ive got a zip tie holding it horizontal but this thing is loose and flops around. What’s a good way to keep the steady and horizontal?

You might be on your something here. I will check it out and maybe order another one.

Thanks Best. I have spring clips on each of the nipple tubes keeping them in place. I’ll do a close inspection of the rubber lines and replace the OEM clamps.

Yes by OEM Hyundai I mean in an OEM Hyundai bag with Hyundai written all over it, anything else = could be generic.
