Just finished a 1800+ mile round trip from Seattle to Bay area Cal. and back. For the most part everything went very well 18+ MPG overall. Two issues though, I have been having trouble with the cruise control here at home in Washington. did all the usual things changed hoses etc. It still kicks out after about 15 minutes of driving. However when I got to Cal. and turned the heater off it would work all day. turn the heater controls to hot and dead again in 15 minutes. WTF? Also after almost completing the trip (20 miles from home) I get a check engine light with aP0441 code. any of you long time disco owners have any insight into either of these issues?

I dont know what the code means, but I would have to guess that your cruise control switch on the dash is bad.
It is probally getting to hot and shutting off when it overheats.
Next time it happens turn the switch off, count to 10 and then turn it back on and see what happens.
18+ mpg. We get 20+ on long trips. Set the cruise at 65 and away we go. And nobody ever believesme. But now that another person with a D1 is getting that too...

 

441 is an Evap incorrect purge flow, possible vaccum or purge valve.
