P0441 code turns to P0444 code
2001 Land Rover Discovery II
Hello,
I just joined this forum, and so far its great. Apologies for the double post, I'm new.
I had a fault code (p0441) come up, and after reading a few post decided to change the purge valve. I used the Dorman 911-800, which was recommended on another post as a viable replacement. And its the only one I could get locally, and not order. So I decided to try it.
I installed it this morning and as soon as I drove the car a few blocks the check light came on. I have a hand held reader, and the code this time was the (p0444).
I assume that the part is not working correctly or is not to spec. But can anyone help who has had a similar issue. I tried to let the truck run for a few miles (40mil) and then I reset the codes and opened and closed the gas cap (which is new). But the code fired off again after a few blocks of driving. Is the part bad?
I will probably just order one online that is specific to land rover which I found (Dorman W0133-1649199) on Amazon and another site. I could buy the OEM one, which is $99 dollars (dealer) or another from Napa for $70. I can return the one from O'reilly for store credit.
Please advise.
Cheers

Just and update, I had improperly attached the connector to the purge valve housing. The part seems to be working properly, just waiting for the disco to finish running it's test so that all the monitors read "ready".
Cheers!

Hi Brandon,
The Purge valve has been working great without any issue. After I let the truck reset itself, she passed the smog/inspection test with flying colors. No more code.
So, feel safe in purchasing the Dorman 911-800 which is a universal part.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
